About Janelle
Hello! Want to communicate better or find success on tests or with college applications? I'm happy to help! I have been teaching for more than 20 years, and I can assist with English conversation, reading, grammar, or TOEFL, IELTS, EIKEN, SAT, ACT, etc, tests. I am happy to work with all ages -- my students have ranged from age 3 to age 75. I am currently a licensed teacher working in Ohio, but I have also taught online for over a decade. I have led classes in vocabulary, literature, and writing classes through several organizations and individuals. I love helping students elevate their communication skills through word choice and connect with literature in different ways. I am also experienced with students who don't speak English as their first language and will adapt materials and classes to fit student needs. For those thinking about college exams, I am an experienced SAT/ACT tutor who also has experience working in college admissions. I love coming up with unique, personalized strategies to help students improve their test scores. One of my students got a 2390 on his SAT (old format), several achieved above a 1500 (new format), and several others have scored 35 on ACT (with perfect scores in English and/or reading)! I helped one student take his ACT English score from a 14 to a 32 with a LOT of hard work! Worried about getting into the college of your dreams? Your personal statement is a key part of the admissions process -- let's work together to make your statement shine! A small investment now will pay off later as acceptances and scholarships roll. My students have been accepted to Ohio State, Northwestern, University of California, CWRU, Cornell, George Washington U, Fordham College, and others. I'm very proud of their hard work. Although my main area of expertise is English, I have also tutored and taught Japanese and Spanish. I live with my husband and our two cats. When I'm not teaching or reading, I like to watch soccer and travel to new places!
